Reporting to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager, the Reliability Engineer (RE) will work with Plant operations and maintenance teams to enhance the availability and effectiveness of mine equipment assets.
The role involves providing technical support through data analysis, failure analysis, and root cause investigation.
Key responsibilities include facilitating and leading root cause failure analysis for major component failures on key open pit equipment, maintaining and validating downtime reporting databases and KPIs, and driving the predictive and preventative maintenance process, including data translation and analysis with report generation. The RE will identify, evaluate, and scope reliability improvement opportunities, ensure the sustainability of current and new condition monitoring techniques, and lead cross-functional teams in continuous improvement initiatives.
Additionally, the role involves leading Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), using improvement processes to enhance asset performance, and coaching and training condition monitoring and lubrication technicians.
Ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of mine equipment while protecting and prolonging the economic life of all assets is crucial.
The RE will also contribute to the overall efficiency of the maintenance department by performing other technical functions as assigned by the supervisor.
To qualify for this position, candidates must have at least three years of practical reliability engineering experience in a mining or related maintenance field.
While not required, a formal technical background in Mechanical/Electrical trade or a Bachelor's qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
Candidates should possess knowledge and skills in vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and NDT, as well as the application of RCM principles. Exposure to project coordination and the ability to make sound project decisions are important.
Proficiency in software products, including Microsoft Projects (GANTT Chart), SIS, Microsoft Office, and a background in CMMS, is an asset.
Mechanical qualification in Maintenance Planning/Asset Management and certification as a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional are also advantageous.
