Title: Quality Engineer

Location: Crest Hill, IL

Salary: $80,000 - $92,000

Founded in 1913 we started out by servicing commercial vehicles. We made an acquisition back in the 1970's that allowed us to grow five fold. We have a staff of over 2000 employees and have grown our engineering team by 16% in the past 2 years as we gain more market share in the space. For this opening in Crest Hill we are looking to hire an experienced Quality Engineer with solid exposure to IATF and Quality Engineering.

Position Overview
We are seeking a Quality Engineer II to join our dynamic team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest quality standards in our products and processes, contributing to the overall success and satisfaction of our customers in the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement quality assurance protocols and procedures to enhance product quality.
  • Conduct Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) techniques to streamline product development.
  • Create and maintain Control Plans and Quality Function Deployment (QFD) documentation.
  • Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts using the 8D methodology.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards across all projects and processes.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers to enhance quality assurance measures and address quality issues.
  • Participate in Six Sigma projects to drive continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Strong knowledge of quality standards and methodologies, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Experience with APQP, FEA, FMEA, Control Plans, QFD, DOE, and 8D.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across teams.
