Title: Commissioning Engineer- On Site
Location: Birmingham, AL
Salary: $115k-$145k + benefits + relocation assistance
Requirements: 5+ years in energy management or industrial assessment program, commercial HVAC systems and commissioning. EIT or ability to pass PE exam in first year
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Commissioning Engineer to join our team of dedicated energy professionals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that building systems are designed, installed, tested, and operated to meet the client's requirements and expectations. The role focuses on building commissioning processes, enhancing system performance, and achieving energy efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage commissioning activities for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems in various building projects.
- Conduct performance testing and troubleshooting of building systems to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Prepare and review commissioning plans, reports, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors to facilitate effective commissioning outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance on energy-efficient building designs and operational practices.
- Assist in the development of energy modeling and analysis to support project goals.
- Participate in training and support for facility staff on building system operations and maintenance.
- Perform ASHRAE levl I,II, III audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in building commissioning and engineering, particularly in HVAC systems ( AHUs, VAVs, chiller plants, boiler and condenser water plants).
- Familiarity with plumbing design, building automation systems, sequences of operations and construction documents.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Knowledge of controls, lighting, and building envelope commissioning is a plus.
- Certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Commissioning Authority (CxA), or BCxA is desirable.
- Experience in energy modeling and project management is advantageous.
- Understanding of utility rate structures and energy efficiency best practices.
